Detailing Day 2003

A July day in Queensland.  Mid Winter.  Perfect for getting out and washing the car.

Of course in the SubaClub we don't do things by halves and so we all met at around 9am at the Club Rooms to commence a full day of car washing and detailing.  Greg, a professional in the car products game had plenty of gear on hand, we had a pressure cleaner, hoses, buckets, sponges and lots of willing hands.

First thing was start washing.  A few cars hadn't been washed since the last detailing day nearly a year ago - or so it seemed from the amount of dirt on board.  Granted, a few had been officials at Qld Rally a few weeks ago and that can get a car really dirty.  Parking under a tree full of pretty little birdies doesn't do wonders for the look of a normally pristine WRX either!  A couple of really dirty ones were put over the ramp and pressure cleaned from underneath.  Much  mud.

Then came the drying.  Of course the timing is never right and some were chamiosing off while others were still splashing the water around. That didn't work too well.

A short break for lunch and into the vacuuming and polishing.  I'm sure David Martin had a polishing cloth to every car there and there were 9 Subarus and 4 others.

A relaxing Sunday in the sun

All finished, it was time for a line-up and photograph.  Of course it rained just in time for that.  However we got our line-up shot and it turned out with two each of MY wagons, Brumbies. L-Series and Liberties with a lone WRX making up the nine.  The others somehow didn't make the photo but they were a Mitzy, two Nissans and Charleen's Yamaha.

After that it was cleanup time for the clubrooms (we'd had the birthday party the night before) then we all left in the rain.
