Tamborine Mountain 2001

SUNDAY JULY 1

We all met at the BP at Yatala, some later than others. Heading of at 9.30am we hit the highway (attempting it in convoy), with all 16 cars.

There were at least 10 Subarus in the line, a mixture of Foresters, Outbacks, Wagons, Brumbys and the Leone sedan. We headed towards Mount Tamborine and hit the first 4WD track for the day.

After a few steep rocky climbs, we got to a creek crossing and made use of the space for a morning tea break. Everyone worked out their line to take over the creek.

Dave Martin, trip leader, was first over, making it look easy. The rest followed, though not as smoothly.

We got a bit lost, then headed back down the mountain to then drive back up it again on a different track. Dave took a punt and came up lucky. We broke for lunch at a park, all enjoying a much deserved break. Arnold knew of a good lookout point to view the coast, so we all had a look.

The afternoon driving proved somewhat more challenging than the morning. These tracks Dave found at Ormeau. There was a lot of wheel lifting and rock hopping. Pete Algate put on a good show for those following, with his Brumby on some spectacular angles.

Among the carnage for the day, Pete Algate hit his driver's side control arm, Greg Bryant damaged the bottom sill and the passenger side doors, and I bent my front quarter panel.

The day finished about 5.30pm at the Yatala Pie Shop.....Yum!!!!!

Good trip Dave. Love ya work.
