Widened Sump Guards For Your MY
This assembly is cheaper than the commercially available alloy sump guards and will also protect the exhaust.
 |
What you will need:
|
 |
-
Clamp down the first sump guard and cut it using an angle grinder along the dotted line, as shown in Figure 1.
-
Clamp down the second sump guard and cut it using an angle grinder along the dotted line, as shown in Figure 2.
-
Weld the two larger sections from each cut sump guard together to produce a wider sump guard, as shown in Figure 3.
-
Cut the ends of the square tube to fit between the exhaust
-
Weld the tube to the back edge of the sump guard, ensuring that the sides will not touch the exhaust.
|
|
|
-
Align the new sump guard with the cross member and mark where the two bolt holes need to be cut in the square tube.
-
Using the hole saw, cut the two bolt holes into the square tube so that the bolts will bolt to the cross member from inside the square tube. This is done to prevent the
bolts from being sheared off or damaged when scraping over rocks etc.
-
Bolt the sump guard to the cross member, as shown in Figure 4.
-
Cap the ends of the square tube.
-
Paint the whole assembly using Chassis Black or under vehicle Rust Proofing.
